INVESTMENT BANKING: ASSOCIATE

 

Job Summary: Back Bay Life Science Advisors is looking for an experienced investment banking Associate with 3-4+ years of life science-related work experience who will bring their knowledge and experience to our M&A and capital markets group. 

Location: Boston, MA

Compensation: Base salary plus year-end and transaction-related bonuses

Who we are:

Back Bay Life Science Advisors is a 30-person firm providing a combination of strategic consulting and investment banking advisory services to an international clientele of emerging and large pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology and diagnostics companies.  The firm is 13 years old, has completed over 1000 client projects since inception, and is a licensed broker-dealer.  Our clients are approximately 2/3 US-based, 1/3 international; and 2/3 development stage, 1/3 commercial.  The firm’s investment banking team focuses on buy and sell-side M&A, divestiture, licensing, partnering and private placement transactions. Back Bay also recently announced a partnership with DNB Bank, a $300BB international institution with significant global capital markets and banking capabilities. 

Role within Back Bay

 We are looking for key additions to our investment banking team.  Associates engage in all aspects of transaction preparation and execution, including primary research, preparation of transaction-related descriptive and due diligence materials, financial modeling and valuation, and counterparty research and outreach.  The ideal candidate will have innate curiosity with respect to life sciences innovation, investments and transactions, and have relevant academic and professional experience.  The candidate must be able to work independently and also as part of a team across our advisory and consulting groups.

Candidate qualifications :

  • 3-4 years relevant life sciences work experience – e.g. strategy consulting, investment banking or business development

  • Relevant undergraduate or graduate academic experience in life science-related studies and/or finance/accounting

  • Specific expertise must include:

    • Excellent forecasting and financial modeling skills

    • Strong transactional and valuation analytic capabilities

    • Able to lead a small team in the preparation of transaction- and client-related presentations and materials

    • Excellent research skills, including familiarity with relevant 3rd party databases

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong collaboration skills

  • Able to function efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
